PSNews - IPv6 is paving the way for an explosion of smartphones, tablets, IoT devices and other Internet-enabled devices, altering the way people, organizations and governments are connected.
Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced a programme on transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in 2021-2025, which will focus on state agencies, instead of the community and business circle as in the previous period.
In Vietnam, the IPv6 transition in networks, services, applications, software is an evolution that ensures Internet resources capacity and security requirements to support digital transformation and development of e-government and smart cities services.
Currently, Vietnam has more than 36 million IPv6 users, and 25 million 3G/4G mobile subscribers.
In July, the Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre also launched a programme to train 500 experts in Internet Protocol version 6 and the domain name system (DNS).
Earlier, many mobile service providers planned to fully switch to IPv6 service to address the deficiency of internet addresses, simplify networks and save on costs and resources.
