The satellite has successfully been manufactured by Vietnamese engineers and is waiting for a safety licence from the competent Japanese agency.

The 50-kilogram satellite, measuring 50 x 50 x 50 (centimetres), is designed to observe Vietnam’s coastal areas, evaluate water quality, locate fishery resources and monitor changes occurring in coastal areas, mainly serving Vietnam’s coastal aquaculture industry and collection of sensor signals from the ground.

The satellite production is part of the efforts of Vietnamese engineers to help gradually the country master the satellite technology.

Earlier, Vietnamese engineers had successfully built the Pico Dragon satellite, measuring 10 x 10 x 11.35 (cm), and weighing 1kg. The satellite was launched into an orbit in November 2013.
