PSNews - Today (November 7), Russia marks its 101st anniversary
of October Revolution. It is considered an important event with meaningful lessons. Creatively applying experience and historical lessons of the Russian October Revolution, the Communist Party of Vietnam under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh led the Vietnamese August Revolution to its success in 1945.
The October Revolution officially known in Soviet literature as the Great October Socialist Revolution and commonly referred to as Red October, the October Uprising, the Bolshevik Revolution or the Bolshevik Coup, was a revolution in Russia led by the Bolsheviks and Vladimir Lenin that was instrumental in the larger Russian Revolution of 1917.
It took place with an armed insurrection in Petrograd on 7 November (25 October, O.S.) 1917. That is because prior to 1917, the Russian Empire and its Tsars followed Eastern Orthodox Christianity in contrast to Western Christian nations, which retained an allegiance to Rome. The primary reason for this split, bizarrely, was due to calendars.
The October Revolution had a significant role in the collapse of the imperialist colony system and opened a new chapter of national independence and a transitional period toward socialism.
The revolution brought new light to Vietnam since the country’s resistance war against the French colonialists were experiencing profound changes and the working class was developing strongly and involving in the political arena, helping put an end to the crisis of national liberation in the early 20th century.

Hundreds of participants march away from the Historical State Museum in Moscow's Red Square. Russian authorities papered over the the 100th anniversary of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution today, with just low-key events being held to mark an uprising that launched more than 70 years of Communist rule.
