Putin vows to soon reveal if he’ll toss his hat into the 2018 presidential race
Putin says that for participating in the election a candidate needs trust and support of the Russian people
Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to make up his mind soon if he will participate in the 2018 presidential election. The question about his election plans was asked at the Russian Volunteer of 2017 Award Ceremony by the ceremony’s host Dmitry Guberniyev.
"This is a very responsible decision for anyone to make. Only the wish to make people’s life in our country better and to make our country stronger, better protected and looking into the future can be the motive behind this decision. Such goals can be achieved only on one condition - people’s trust and support," Putin said.
He addressed the participants in and spectators at the ceremony - members of Russia’s volunteer movements with a question: "In this connection I would like to ask you: should I make such a decision, will you and people whose views are close to your own support it?" The audience responded with a loud YES.
"I remember very well that the decision is to be made in the near future and it will be made in the near future," Putin said. "And in making the decision I will keep in mind the conversation we had today and your response."
After presenting the awards to the winners Putin left for Nizhni Novgorod for a meeting with workers at the automobile plant GAZ.
