Russian parliamentary election: United Russia wins over 53% of votes

According to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation's data, United Russia is leading in Russian parliamentary election with over 53 percent of votes as half of ballots counted.

The LDPR (Liberal Democratic Party of Russia) and the Communist party are following with about 15.1 and 14.9% each., the Central Election Commission said.

The opposition party of former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov won only 0.6% of the vote and did not receive enough votes to make it into parliament.

With the total number of Russian voters amounts to 111.6 million, this is the biggest ever election in the history of modern Russia
