PSNews - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently approved a project on developing and promoting the national brand of Vietnamese lacquer art during 2020-2030.

Lacquer art has a long history in Vietnam. This traditional material is often used to make handicraft products and paintings.

Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approved a project to build a national brand for  lacquer art by 2030, contributing to the development of its cultural market and economic growth in general as well as promoting the land and people of Vietnam to international friends through cultural exchange activities.

Accordingly, the ministries, agencies and localities will focus on developing a logo for the art, and setting standards for materials and criteria for works.

In particular, investment into the 'son' (lacquer) tree growing area in Phu Tho province and the promotion of lacquer products in Ha Thai trade village in Hanoi and Tuong Binh Hiep (Binh Duong) will be focused upon.

The project will also boost personnel training, preserve and promote the traditional art, and update new technologies in this regard. During this period, international lacquer art festivals and the introduction of publications covering the Vietnamese lacquer will also be held.

As announced, the ministry will provide funding for the Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Department to coordinate with relevant agencies, organisations and localities in materialising the project.
