Central localities ready to welcome back tourists

Vietnam has officially reopened international tourism on March 15. At present, the tourism ecosystem, from aviation, travel agents to accommodation and entertainment service providers in the Central localities, is ready to open doors to welcome visitors back.

The central province of Quang Nam, which hosts the National Tourism Year 2022, has taken steps to upgrade its tourism products, destinations, tourism services and accommodation facilities since the beginning of the year so as to provide the best services to visitors, according to the province’s authority.

Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Hong, said that, the National Tourism Year-Quang Nam 2022 is the first in a series of events to promote tourism recovery and development of the country in general and Quang Nam in particular after a long period of heavy impacts by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is also a chance to promote tourism connectivity and cooperation among cities and provinces with tourism potential and strengths, he added.

Phan Ho, Director of the Management Board of the World Cultural Heritage Site of My Son, said that in order to prepare for the National Tourism Year 2022, right from the end of 2021, after successfully piloting the welcoming of international tourists, the site has prepared conditions to receive visitors safely.

Danang city, for its part, hosted an online travel fair, named Danang FantastiCity 2022, from March 17 to 25 to help attract more visitors to Da Nang city and the central region as a whole as Vietnam will completely reopen to international tourists from March 15.

The event is held by the municipal Department of Tourism. It will feature 150 booths of companies working in the travel industry and over 60 partners from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, India, and Southeast Asian countries.

The fair will enable participating businesses to meet potential Vietnamese and international partners to share information, connect with one another, and expand ties. Meanwhile, visitors will have a chance to join the promotional program Fantastic Hour on March 19 and 20.

Meanwhile, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines have agreed on a comprehensive cooperation deal for 2022-26 to promote destinations, tourism, and local investment.

The two sides will foster a series of programs, including communications and promotions in tourism, investment, trade, air service in the post-COVID-19 recovery plan in 2022 and the following years. The province and Vietnam Airlines will jointly host international and regional education, culture, tourism, and promotion programs abroad.

Thua Thien-Hue has resumed organization of the 11th biennial cultural event Hue Festival after a one-year delay by the COVID-19. Different traditional and contemporary cultural performances, carnival, cuisine festivals will be held in Hue.
