The Thang Long - Ha Noi for Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi has just kicked off an exhibition on General Van Tien Dung's life and career to mark General Dung’s 105th birth anniversary and the 47th anniversary of national reunification. 

The exhibition aims to pay tribute to the late general, who made outstanding contributions in the struggle for national liberation and the cause of building and protecting the nation.

On display are 150 documents and photos related to General Van Tien Dung during Vietnam’s two national resistance wars. 

Late General Van Tien Dung was born in Co Nhue commune, North Tu Liem district, Hanoi, in 1917. He joined in the revolutionary movement early. 

He held several important roles, including Minister of National Defence from 1980-1986; and Secretary of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He was commander of the Ho Chi Minh campaign and directly conducted the Central Highlands battlefield in 1975.
