"Immortal regiment" parade honors fallen soldiers for national independence and world peace
The University of Fire Prevention and Fighting under the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam, organized the “Immortal regiment” parade on the university campus, on May 6, 2025.

The event saw the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou.
The program was held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam and the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, significant milestones in the histories of both Vietnam and Russia.
In his remarks, President of the University of Fire Prevention and Fighting Lieutenant General Le Quang Bon Assoc. Prof., Dr., underlined that the event was not only a cultural activity but also a solemn occasion to honor and pay tribute to those who had sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom of each country.
The program also contributed to reinforcing the solidarity and strengthen the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, especially as the two nations are marking historical milestones in their countries and looking ahead to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The event aimed to instill a sense of reverence, gratitude and respect in the younger generation toward the war veterans and fallen soldiers who had bravely fought for the liberation and peace of each nation and the world.
Speaking at the event, Russian Ambassador Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko affirmed that the “Immortal regiment” parade has become a traditional and globally recognized event to honor all those who had fought in the Great Patriotic War, including front-line soldiers, guerrilla fighters as well as those who had served in logistical and support roles behind the lines and who had together helped bring about a long-awaited victory.
The program featured a wide range of meaningful activities, including a memorial tree-planting ceremony, the “Immortal Regiment” parade with the participation of Russian expatriates, Vietnamese veterans and students, an artistic performance titled “Victory, Solidarity and Remembrance” and a photo exhibition on the Great Patriotic War.
