Lilies can usually be viewed as a symbol of April in the capital, with street vendors putting them up for sale on roads throughout Hanoi.

These days citizens of the capital can spot bicycles loaded with lily flowers on roads such as Thuy Khue, Phan Dinh Phung, and Thanh Nien. In spite of being mixed with other flowers, lilies continue to be the most prominent.

The flowers are usually grown in Tay Tuu and Quang Ba villages, with April each year being its only blooming season.

Street vendors must pour water on the flowers regularly in order to keep them fresh all day.

Gardeners typically plant trees during the lunar months between September to November in an effort to ensure that the flowers bloom at the correct time.

Lilies are transported via bicycles that roam the streets and markets in Hanoi, signaling the arrival of summer.

The price for a bunch of 15 to 16 lilies ranges from VND30,000 to VND50,000.
