Lotus village festival honours President Ho Chi Minh

PSNews - The Lang Sen (Lotus Village) festival 2022 officially kicked off in the central province of Nghe An on May 17 as part of activities marking the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. The three-day festival attracts the participation of over 300 artists from 11 art troupes across the country.

Vinh city and Nam Dan district host the festival from May 17 to May 19, with the event involving a wide range of activities. It opens with a street parade from Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh that runs to the Kim Lien Relic Site in Nam Dan district.

Upon addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said the purpose of the festival is to express the gratitude and respect of the entire nation for President Ho Chi Minh, a figure who can be viewed as the nation’s preeminent hero and a world cultural celebrity.

The highlight of the festival is a music gala on the evening of May 17, with the show featuring many songs which praise the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh.

Stories detailing Lang Sen village in Kim Lien commune of Nam Dan district, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, are also told during the course of the function.

The music gala sees over 300 artists from 11 art troupes gather together from across the country.

The festival was first organized in 1981. This is one of the activities to show the gratitude and respect of the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province, as well as the people across the country, to President Ho Chi Minh, aiming  to popularise and educate people about President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, thus fostering the "Study and follow President Ho’s ideology, morality and lifestyle" movement.

After 2 years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sen village festival 2022 is expected to attract a large number of visitors and the participation of art troupes from provinces and cities nationwide.
