Bac Giang teachers offer porridge to forces on frontline of COVID-19 fight

PSNews – Over the past week, teachers in Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province and employees of Altai Sibiri Company have cooked 7,500 bowls of nutritional porridge for doctors and nurses working at hospitals treating COVID patients. 

Since June 8, the large yard of the Viet Yen District Education Office had temporarily been turned into an outdoor kitchen for local education officials to cook porridge for doctors and nurses on the frontline of the COVID-19 fight. Everyday, local teachers and education officials gather in the place from 2pm to 11pm to cook food for medical workers at local hospitals.

“We buy fresh, safe and nutritious ingredients to cook porridge for local doctors and nurses. All the volunteers here feel happy when supporting the frontline forces, contributing to stamping out the COVID-19 pandemic in Bac Giang”, said teacher Nguyen Thi Dac, a member of the volunteer team.

Every day, nearly 1,200 bowls of nutritional porridge are cooked and delivered by the volunteer team to doctors and nurses at 7 local hospitals.

These hospitals include Bac Giang Field Hospitals No. 1 and No.2, the Bac Giang Provincial Lung Hospital, the Bac Giang General Hospital, the Bac Giang Rehabilitation Hospital, the Bac Giang Provincial Hospital of Oriental Medicine, and some other hospitals that taking COVID-19 testing in Viet Yen district.

Nurse Hoang Thi Hop, a female police officer working at Bac Giang Field Hospital No.2 happily shared that, every morning before taking the work shift, she always receives a hot bowl of porridge delivered by local volunteer teachers.
