Three more local patients have died of severe underlying health conditions and COVID-19, bringing the national fatality count up to 105, the Treatment Subcommittee under the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said on July 8.

A severe COVID-19 patient receives special treatment.

One fatality was recorded in the current hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City, while the other two deaths were reported in the central province of Da Nang and in the northern province of Bac Giang.

The deceased are aged between 67 and 74 and had suffered from a number of chronic diseases, including liver cancer, hypertension, diabetes (type II), obesity, heart failure, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

They had originally tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in June and passed away several weeks after being admitted to hospital for treatment.

The latest victims therefore raise the country’s death toll as part of the ongoing fourth COVID-19 wave to 70, with the national figure now at 105 in total.
