High speed passenger boats used to transport food to HCMC

About 5 high-speed boats would carry food and medical equipment from Mekong Delta to HCMC starting July 19 to aid residents during the social distancing period.

Each boat is capable of carrying 20 tons of vegetables.

According to local authorities, 5 large high-speed boats will transport vegetables from Ben Tre and Tien Giang to HCMC. Each boat is capable of carrying 20 tons of vegetables. They also can carry food items like rice, noodles, meat, eggs and vegetables, as well as medical supplies.

The boats would operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. Transportation costs would be negotiated between Greenlines DP Technology, which operates the boats, and parties that wish to use the service.

The boats would leave ports in Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Vinh Long for Bach Dang Port in HCMC and vice versa. They would travel straight from Mekong Delta localities to HCMC without passing local checkpoints. 

Crew members must abide by coronavirus prevention measures, be vaccinated with at least one shot and test negative for the virus.

In a recent dispatch sent to HCMC and other southern localities of Can Tho, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The said he supports the use of of high-speed boats to carry food and medical equipment from Mekong Delta to HCMC.
