Thousand of Hanoi primary school students tested for COVID-19

PSNews - Health workers on January 31 collected swab samples from around 1,000 students and their teachers at the Xuan Phuong Primary School in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi City, where a student was confirmed infected with COVID-19.
Xuan Phuong Primary School in Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem District has been temporarily closed on Jan. 31 and admitted to be an isolation facility for over 80 teachers, students and other suspected cases after a student, named K, of the class 3E who was tested positive for the novel coronavirus
On the same day, health workers worked all day to collect swab samples for COVID-19 tests from around 1,000 students and their teachers at the school.
A boy has his sample taken for COVID-19 testing. Collected samples would be transferred to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control. As of January 31's night, all 35 classmates of the third grader who got infected tested negative for the novel coronavirus once.
These direct contacts will be quarantined for 14 days and undergo home quarantine for another seven days.
As of February 1's morning, Hanoi has reported 15 COVID-19 community cases since the outbreak returned on January 28. The city authorities have ordered to close all bars, discos and karaoke venues as of Feburary 1.
The virus has so far spread to 9 cities and provinces across the country, with 238 cases recorded in the last days, mostly in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces, the country’s two biggest coronavirus hotspots.
Meanwhile, as many as 16 cities and provinces nationwide have moved to temporarily shut schools a week ahead of the lunar New Year (Tet) break in an attempt to slow the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The localities are Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Hoa Binh, Hanoi, Son La, Hung Yen, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Gia Lai, and Binh Phuoc.
