COVID-19: Daily caseload falls to 9,625, death toll remains high at 102
Vietnam has confirmed 9,625 new coronavirus infections in 57 cities and provinces across the country during the past 24 hours, a fall of 598 cases compared to the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in its coronavirus update on November 19.
Official data from the MoH showed an additional 102 people have died and 1,971 more patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the newly-detected infections, 4,995 cases were diagnosed in the community through random testing or test screening.
Ho Chi Minh City, recorded the highest number of new infections at 1,339, followed by Binh Duong 661, Tay Ninh 599, Dong Nai 578 and Dong Thap 509, all in the south.
Hanoi capital remains the largest coronavirus hotspot in the north with 287 new cases, followed by Thai Binh 99, Ha Giang 83, Bac Ninh 75, Nam Dinh 53 and Quang Ninh 49.
As of 06pm on November 19 Vietnam has documented 1,075,094 COVID-19 cases since the start of the first outbreak in January 2020, ranking 37th out of 223 countries and territories worldwide.
Of the total, 883,564 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
As many as 23,578 patients have died of the virus, making up 2.2% of the total number of infections.
Nearly 105 million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, with 38.6 million people getting their second shot.
