House fire in Binh Duong province kills five people
Five members of a family residing in Di An city in the southern province of Binh Duong died on August 18 after their house caught fire.
Neighbours said they saw flames around 22:00 p.m. billowing out of a two-story home which also operates as a grocery store, with the site covering 120 square metres on Thang Loi 2 street of Di An ward.
Locals immediately rushed to the scene in order to help put out the blaze and bring it under control, but their efforts were ultimately in vain.
The fire spread quickly and went on to engulf the entire house, which contained a number of highly-flammable materials, according to eyewitnesses.
Upon receiving information about the blaze, firefighters, fire trucks, and several ambulances were dispatched to the scene to lead rescue efforts. They successfully put out the fire at around 1 a.m. on August 19, although they failed to save the five people inside the house.
According to the initial information, two people died at the scene, while three others were transferred to a general hospital where they subsequently passed away at 4 a.m. on the same day.
Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
