Three killed in Hanoi gas explosion

Three people were killed following a gas cylinder exploding at their rented house in Hanoi on the evening of January 3.

According to the initial information from the scene, the tragic accident occurred at around 21:30 p.m. at the couple’s rented house in Hoang Mai district.

The entire roof of the house was blown off as a result of the huge explosion.

Upon receiving the fatal news, rescue teams swiftly arrived at the residence, where it took them nearly two hours to put out the blaze.

According to a neighbour who witness the incident, he heard a major bang like a thundering and then people shouting, “Fire, Fire”. “I immediately ran to the second floor to warn the other people. The high-rise blaze rapidly engulfed the 30 metre-square house," the neighbour added.

At 0:15 a.m on January 4, an ambulance arrives at the scene.

The bodies of the victims were pulled out of the wreckage.

Functional forces spend time further investigating the cause of the explosion.
