Ministry of Public Security reports on the need for two laws on road traffic and road traffic safety

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS), on August 23, had a meeting with the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), the Government Office, and National Assembly’s (NA) Committees to discuss on the revision to the Road Traffic Law and the draft of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security chaired the event. The meeting drew the participation of leaders of the three mentioned ministries and representatives of Government Office and relevant NA Committees.

Previously, the revised law and the draft law were discussed in the 10th session of the 14th NA (November, 2020). After the hearing, the MPS and MoT adopted the ideas and opinions of the NA’s deputies and revised them in line with the scope of adjustments stated in the Government’s Resolution No.123 dated August 31, 2020.

At the meeting, the delegates continued to give valuable ideas to the revised law and the draft law, showing high consensus among the relevant ministries, committees and agencies on the revision to the current law and the draft of the new law.

Delegates also affirmed the need to revise the Road Traffic Law as well as to promulgate the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety to contribute to perfecting the legal framework and developing a synchronous and modern traffic system.

To conclude the meeting, Minister To Lam thanked the delegates for their comments and ideas, affirming that the MPS and the MoT highly agreed to propose the Government and the NA to include the two laws in the 2022 NA law building program.
