MPS and Dien Bien join efforts to ensure security and socio-economic development

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, on November 15, had a meeting with provincial Party leaders of Dien Bien to discuss approaches to build local police forces, and ensure security, social order in association with socio-economic development in the province.

The event saw the presence of representatives from central agencies, ministries, local authorities, and public security units.

In his remarks, Minister To Lam said the Northwestern province holds a strategic position in terms of national defense and security so maintaining national defense and security plays a crucial role in the development of the nation in general and Dien Bien in particular.

Realizing the importance of the task of ensuring security and social order in the locality, the Ministry of Public Security always coordinated with the Dien Bien provincial authorities to seek agreement on the leadership and direction of the missions of ensuring security and social order, and building revolutionary, elite and modern public security forces in association with boosting local socio-economic development.

The minister highly appreciated the important achievements made by the provincial Party, government and people over the past time, in spite of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Accordingly, Dien Bien still achieved a GRDP growth rate of over 4.28%, and total investment capital reached over VND 14.5 trillion (up by 17.23% compared to same period last year) while the social security policies were effectively implemented, particularly for redundant  labors returning home from other localities due to the pandemic. 

At the same time, the provincial authorities, armed forces and people made a special effort to prevent and control COVID-19 as well as to maintain a stable security and social order situation in the locality.

He believed the Party, government and people of Dien Bien, with support from central government, will strive to overcome all challenges and successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress of Dien Bien so as to build a prosperous and civilized province.
