Vietnam Coast Guard tightens cooperation with Indonesian partner

The Vietnam Coast Guard on December 28 singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on maritime security and safety cooperation with the Indonesia Coast Guard.

The signing ceremony saw the presence of Major General Le Quang Dao, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, and Vice Admiral, Dr. Aan Kunia, Commander of the Indonesia Coast Guard and representatives of relevant agencies of Vietnam and Indonesia.

Speaking at the event, Major General Le Quang Dao affirmed the importance of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries' coast guard forces, saying that the newly-signed MOU clearly demonstrates the efforts as well as effective cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Vice Admiral Aan Kunia described the Vietnam Coast Guard as an important partner in Southeast Asia in ensuring maritime security and safety.

He also believed that the MoU would serve as a foundation for the two sides to deepen and expand their friendship and cooperation, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding, strengthening the bilateral practical and effective cooperation, and efficiently settling incidents at sea.

He added that the signing of the MoU marked a milestone and opened a new page in the relations between the two sides, contributing to preserving peace, stability and development in regional waters.
