Speaking at the meeting, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi expressed his great appreciation for the affection shown by Vietnamese leaders, people, and Minister Son personally. Indeed, he remarked on the fondness shown for the late Prime Minister Abe and Japan in general.

The two diplomats were delighted to see that mutual relations develop across multiple fields, especially through recent high-level meetings, which have made an important contribution to consolidating trust between the two countries.

They used the event as a platform to agree to intensify the exchange of information and experience relating to issues of mutual concern, including maintaining peace, stability, and co-operation in the region.

The two ministers vowed to carry out the ODA programme for Vietnam, to bolster co-ordination, as well as to share stances within the frameworks of the UN, ASEAN, and the Mekong. This will be done as a means of contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and the prosperous and sustainable development of the region as a whole.
