Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS), Head of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Front Command of the MPS worked with the provincial police of Soc Trang on ensuring security and safety as well as the prevention and control of COVID-19, on October 14.

Soc Trang has recorded 2,062 cases of COVID-19, 1,122 recovered cases and 22 deaths since July 4. More than 40,100 Soc Trang residents have returned home from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces over the past days.

The Soc Trang Provincial Police Department has coordinated with relevant sectors and related provinces to support the returnees on their way and test them for coronavirus on their arrivals in the province.

Thanks to the efforts of the provincial police, Soc Trang has basically controlled the COVID-19 pandemic,  and allowed local businesses to re-open in a new normal state.

Along with the fight against the pandemic, the provincial police of Soc Trang successfully maintained local security, social order and safety; as a result, the number of criminal offenses in the two provinces reduced.

On behalf of MPS, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly appreciated the efforts of the provincial police of Soc Trang in preventing and controlling the pandemic as well as ensuring security, social order and safety over the past time.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that the security and disease situation Soc Trang was basically controlled. However, the provincial police should be on alert against risks of disease outbreaks when a large number of people are returning home from other provinces.
