Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on August 3 worked with the Hau Giang Provincial Police Department on prevention and fighting of COVID-19.

Colonel Huynh Viet Hoa, Director of the Provincial Police Department, and Senior Colonel Nguyen Phuoc Hung, Warden of Kenh 5 Prison, briefed the Deputy Minister and other delegates on their approaches and efforts to prevent and combat the pandemic.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung appreciated the results of the provincial police and prison’s staff in prevention and control of the pandemic.

He noted that all officers and soldiers of the provincial police must be mobilized to stay on duty.

The provincial police should grasp the situation, enhance the movement “All people protect national security”, promote the role of grassroots forces in detecting infection suspects or people returning from pandemic-hit areas. Officers or soldiers who lack responsibility in prevention and combat of the pandemic shall be strictly punished.

The provincial police were asked to advise the Provincial Party and People’s Committees to receive people returning form pandemic-hit provinces and cities in an orderly and safe manner.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Hau Giang has a “golden period of time” to fight the pandemic, so the provincial police should actively coordinate with other forces to make full use of the current social distancing time to trace infection cases and stamp out the pandemic.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung requested the provincial police to ensure security and safety on roads and waterways as well as manage the “green lane”, for the transportation of essential goods. Additionally, the local police forces should seriously work at pandemic checkpoints in line the Prime Minister's Directive 16 while Enhancing information dissemination on the pandemic and measures to prevent and control it.

On this occasion, the Anti-COVID-19 Front Command of the Ministry of Public Security presented medical equipment and supplies for epidemic prevention and control to the Provincial Police Department and Kenh 5 Prison.
