Hau Giang police ensure local security while effectively controlling COVID-19

Following the directions of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Interim Front Command under the Ministry of Public Security, the Hau Giang police advised the provincial authorities to set up medical checkpoints on roads and waterway routes as well as at border crossings and natural trails to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Particularly, checkpoints run by the police forces at the gateways to the province effectively controlled people and vehicles entering and leaving the locality while epidemiological investigation teams with the participation of policemen at the provincial and district levels quickly traced COVID-19 patients and suspects.

Additionally, the local police conducted more than 11,600 patrols and inspections to detect and strictly handle violations of anti-pandemic regulations. While conducting patrols, the police also detected and solved 25 drug-related cases with 40 people involved and 11 economic criminal cases with 11 offenders.

Moreover, 13 people who spread the  infectious disease in the community or opposed the pandemic prevention and control forces were prosecuted by the provincial police.

At the same time, the provincial police of Hau Giang also coordinated with local authorities and benefactors to carry out social activities for people who were affected by the pandemic.

Particularly, they supported poor students with good school records as well as mobilized police officers and soldiers to donate nearly VND 2.4 billion to buy 2,500 packages of gifts, seven tons of rice and 4.5 tons of agricultural products for needy locals
