MPS hosts meeting with police combat veterans

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting with combat veterans of the People's Public Security Forces who participated in fighting the enemy in the North during the anti-US war.

The meeting aimed to recall the great contributions and sacrifices of generations of officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security Forces for the cause of national construction and defense.

The meeting saw the presence of Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam,  current leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security as well as more than 500 combat veterans of the People's Public Security Forces who participated in fighting the enemy in the North, particularly in the "Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air" campaign and counter-espionage campaign during the war.

The event was one of the activities conducted by the People's Public Security Forces on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu on the air” campaign (December 1972 – December 2022) and 60 years since the first Special Counter-espionage Campaign was launched.

At the conference, the delegates recalled the hard but glorious days when they participated in counter-espionage campaigns during the resistance war against US invaders.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Tri Phuong was one of the police officers who had engaged various fights against the enemy in the North.

During his 40 years of working in the police force, he participated in different operations of patrolling, ambushing, tracking down and catching enemy spies and commandos infiltrating into the North.

He also joint hundreds of battles against American aircraft. 

For his merits, Senior Colonel Nguyen Tri Phuong was presented the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the Party, State and Uncle Ho when he was 26 years old.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam expressed gratitude to heroic martyrs, wounded and sick combatants and combat veterans of the Public Security Forces for their sacrifices in fighting the enemy on the Northern battlefield during the resistance war against US invaders.

Minister To Lam hoped that the historical witnesses will give more valuable historical documents and artifacts to museums of the Public Security Forces.
