MPS seeks to break through bottlenecks in implementing National Data Center project

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting to discuss approaches to break through bottlenecks in the implementation of the National Data Center project.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long chaired the meeting.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long noted that on October 30, 2023, the Government issued Resolution No. 157/NQ-CP approving the National Data Center project, and assigning MPS to establish, manage and operate the center.

According to the resolution, the center’s primary mission is to integrate, synchronize, store, share, analyze, exploit and coordinate data among state agencies in accordance with the laws.

The center is expected to become a comprehensive national data repository based on existing national databases.

The Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long stressed that the meeting aimed to exchange views on issues arising during the establishment and operation of the center.

Accordingly, the meeting focused discussion on the integration and synchronization of data at the National Data Center, the launch of the National Public Service Portal and the establishment of indicators and information systems to serve the Government and Prime Minister’s direction and administration.

He also requested delegates to discuss necessary conditions to pilot several public services based on the center’s infrastructure platform, saying that the pilot run would help to make a comprehensive assessment of the platform prior to the official deployment.

Delivering his report at the meeting, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, pointed out several obstacles as well as specific tasks requiring ministries and agencies to join efforts to break through the existing bottlenecks so as to put the center into operation as scheduled.

During the meeting, representatives from various ministries and sectors provided a comprehensive and in-depth analyses of the bottlenecks and obstacles to the launch of the National Data Center, and proposed a number of approaches to promptly address these issues.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long highly appreciated the in-depth discussions on the difficulties faced by ministries and agencies in fulfilling their assigned tasks under Government’s Resolution No. 157/NQ-CP.

The Deputy Minister urged ministries and agencies to assign their standing committees to work closely with the Government Office and the Ministry of Public Security so as to effectively implement the assigned tasks and promptly resolve issues arising during the implementation of the project.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also requested the National Data Center under MPS to conduct a comprehensive review of all databases, infrastructure systems and information security measures, as well as make full preparations for the pilot operation of the National Data Center and the National Public Service Portal in May 2025.
