The Minister proposed that, in the coming time, the ASEAN chief and ASEAN Secretariat will continue to support Vietnam to lead or jointly take the lead in the one of the ten regional campaigns against transnational crimes that ASEAN launched and Vietnam has sufficient resources for, such as cybercrime, drug-related crimes or human trafficking.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also called on General Secretary Kao Kim Hourn and the ASEAN Secretariat to support Vietnam’s initiatives and cooperation projects within the framework of the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC), while asking them to create favorable conditions for police officers from the Vietnam’s MPS to apply for positions at agencies of the ASEAN Secretariat so that they can improve their capacity to work in an international environment, meeting Vietnam’s requirements of promoting comprehensive and extensive international integration.

As the coordinator of ASEAN-UK and ASEAN-New Zealand relations for the 2024 - 2027 period, Vietnam wishes to make more contributions to strengthening cooperation against transnational crimes between ASEAN and the two partners, said  Minister Luong Tam Quang.
