Twenty Vietnamese businesses attended Japan’s largest international food and beverage exhibition, Foodex Japan 2018 at the Makuhari Messe convention centre in Chiba on March 6.

The event drew the participation of 3,350 businesses from 80 nations and territories around the globe, and aims to offer Vietnamese businesses opportunities to promote their exports for the Japanese market.

At the expo, Vietnamese firms displayed products such as fruit and vegetables, seafood, cod-liver oil, organic pepper, seedless lemons, rice products, Phu Quoc sauce, various biscuits, and juices.

The firms introduced their products to potential partners in Japan and other foreign markets including the US, Canada, the Republic of Korea, and Mexico. Visitors will have the chance to taste delicious foods and sample products at the Vietnamese pavilions.

Vietnamese trade counsellor to Japan Ta Duc Minh said Vietnam perfected their product offerings this year for consumers to be able to use them directly, adding that the Vietnamese embassy in Japan will further promote the export of tropical fruits and seafood products to the Japanese market in future.

The expo will run until March 9 and is expected to attract 85,000 visitors.
