Will Toyota popularize green-cars in Vietnam?

Although Toyota has introduced the Prius hybrid car model to Vietnamese consumers, the company has still been surveying the feedbacks and waiting for a specific tax policy before deciding to launch cars of this model on the Vietnam market.

At a recent seminar on green technology, Toyota Vietnam revealed its plan to sell this hybrid car model in the end of 2017 or early 2018.

The Prius model is the best seller among Toyota's  green cars, which costs equivalently to its mid-class Camry sedan. Prius has an electric motor and gasoline engine, which is seen as an economical solution, but emits little exhaust fume and runs smoothly.

Toyota Prius’s engine can save 20-30% fuel compared to internal combustion engines of the same type. The car uses a straight four-cylinder petrol engine with a capacity of 1.8 liters, 96 horsepowers and peak torque of 142 Nm; and an electric motor capacity of 71 kW and peaktorque of 163 Nm.
