PSNews – Ms. Kieu has created 500 pictures only in the past 2 years with the use of rice, and then exported her pictures bearing the “Soul of Vietnamese villages” to international friends.

She is Nguyen Khoa Kieu, living in Quang Tri province. After graduating from the Da Nang Economic University, Ms. Kieu worked for several local firms in Da Nang and Hai Lang. But, she left all the firms to pursue her passion for art.

Earlier, she had learnt and researched all information about this art – making pictures with rice, on the internet but she could not have made one. She then went to workshops of gemstone and lacquer painting to learn skills and expertise and gain working experiences. After many failures she finally found her way.

She shared: “2 years ago, after a week working hard, I could complete my first picture. Although the picture was not very nice, I felt very happy.”

To make one picture, she first roasts the grain to make its color more natural. Then she elaborately assembles grains of rice into a picute and finally fixes them firmly.

Over the last 2 years, she has made more than 500 pictures, of which over 100 pictures have been exported to the USA, Australia, Canada, Russia, France and Taiwan.
