France supports Hanoi to set up an air monitoring system

French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary announced this project at the press release in the morning of October 20. France will support Hanoi to monitor and manage the air quality and assist the Hanoi capital metropolitan in particular and Vietnam Government in general to implement effectively the policies, actions to tackle climate change, sustainable development and environmental  protection.
Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary affirmed, Hanoi needs to apply the tools to measure and analyze the air quality, so that the citizens can gain the information and the authorities can obtain the necessary signals to propose the methods for the environmental quality improvement.

France possesses huge experiences in this field. All French major cities are well equipped with an air monitoring system. Therefore, France desires to support and share experiences with Vietnam, cooperate in Hanoi daily air quality analysis, transfer technology in the sustainable urban.

Besides, there are many other projects assisted by France such as anti-saltwater instruction project, shoreline and waterfront erosion project in Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh and Can Tho provinces.

According to Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary, France and Vienam share only strong political relationship but also dynamic trade exchanges. France is the fifth trade partner of Vietnam and Vietnam is the ASEAN leading provider of France.

This close-knit relation is increased due to the cultural corporation, especially through the participation and the value sharing of Vietnam in French language blocks.

The youth of the two countries mounted by French language. There have been more than 48.000 Vietnamese students learning French and thousands of Vietnamese students studying at French univerisities annually.

Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary stressed, the priorities of his Vietnamese term are concretizing the policies that President Francois Hollande determined during the official visit in Vietnam in September.

Such policies include promoting the economy relation, reinforcing corporations in defense sector, combating climate change and helping Vietnamese youth be close to France. In the coming time, France will establish French zone in Vietnamese major universities, first in Can Tho University.
