Ho Chi Minh City festival kicked off to celebrate 44 years of name change
The Ho Chi Minh Municipal People's Committee in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Department of Culture and Sports on June 28 kicked off a programme named "Ho Chi Minh City festival", marking 44 years since the city was named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976-2020).
The Ho Chi Minh festival includes a series of cultural and sport activities in Nguyen Hue walking street, in District 1 from June 27-July 2.
Visitors and local people will have chance to richen their knowledge about Ho Chi Minh City through exhibitions on culture, history and the development of the city over the past of 320 years.
There are also documents showing the remarkable progress of Ho Chi Minh City in the application of the Industry 4.0 in the daily life and production; the introduction of traditional crafts and folk cultural activities.
Additionally, there will be a singing contest with the participation of the Southern provinces of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh and the host city.
In particular, a special art program featuring a concert, martial art performance; a parade on main streets; the 44th traditional marathon competition are also expected to attract a large number of people.
