Hue Festival 2018: One Destination, Five World Heritages

PSNews - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications as well as the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to introduce the Hue Festival 2018, on December 19, in Hanoi.  

Continuing the success of the previous festivals, the Hue Festival 2018 titled "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development; Hue - one destination, five World Heritages" will be held from April 27 - May 2, 2018.

It offers a big chance for visitors to explore the quintessence of Vietnam's cultural and artistic values, inspired by UNESCO-recognized world heritages including the Complex of Hue Monuments (1993), Royal Court Music (2003), Woodblocks (2009) and Imperial Archives (2014) of the Nguyen Dynasty and the Poetry on Hue royal architectural works (2016).

Most recently, Hue together with other nine provinces in the Central of Vietnam is honoured to be one of the owners of a UNESCO's newly-listed Intangible Cultural Heritage - Bai Choi singing in December, 2017.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung shared that the Hue Festival 2018 will be held to commemorate cultural and historical milestones of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular, the 230th anniversary of the Nguyen Hue Emperor's Coronation at the Ban Mount (1788-2018); the 25th anniversary of UNESCO recognition of Hue monument complex as a World Cultural Heritage Site; the 15th anniversary of UNESCO recognition bestowed on Hue's Court Music as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (2013-2018).

Besides various prominent art troupes from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and other regions all over the country, the event will also assemble diversified and outstanding art troupes from Korea, Israel, Mongolia, Japan, Thailand, China, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia, France, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Australia, Morocco.

The highlight programmes will take place during the six days of the Festival including spectacle "Hue Royal Inspiration", national performance of Chau Van, Ao Dai grand show inspired by Hue's visual arts on Vietnamese silk, Trinh Cong Son's music concert, Buddhism artistic program, "Hue's love songs", as wel as street performance "Cultural Colours".

Additionally, there will be a great deal of side events, community and fringe activities such as fine-art exhibition, the Hue Science Festival, Hue Poetry Festival, Kite Festival, Calligraphy Display, Human Chess.

Royal celebrations and other events throughout the year such as the Nam Giao Offering Ritual, Huyen Tran Temple and Hon Chen Temple festivities, Vesak celebration will continue to be held on the basis of content completion and quality improvement.

Various sightseeing tours and eco-tours offer more fantastic itineraries to tourists to discover local extraordinary attractions such as Lang Co - the World's Most Beautiful Bays, A Luoi and Nam Dong mountainous regions or Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon.

Hue Festival is considered as the first international art, cultural and tourist event of Vietnam, which takes place biennially in even years. Through its nice editions, the event has gained remarkable achievements and gradually built up its reputation in the professional festival community of the world. The Hue Festival 2018 awaits travelers from near and far with enjoyable and inspiring experiences.
