PSNews - The winner of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Nie said she wishes that children everywhere dream big and have enough energy to overcome all hardships.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Nie on October 30 presented a library of 3.500 books for 750 students, most of whom are ethnic minorities, at Bao Thuan Primary School, Bao Thuan commune, Di Linh district, Lam Dong province during a Reading Festival.

Living in a underdeveloped area, students in Bao Thuan still face many difficulties in study and life. The library, with books of various genres suitable for primary school students, is expected to become a source of encouragement for the local children.

Within the event, Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Nie also participated in reading, story-telling and painting activities with hundreds of students of Bao Thuan Primary School.

H’Hen Nie comes from an Ede ethnic minority family in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak. She was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam in 2017.  In her conversations with the children, she said she has seen the marvelous power of education and education is the “only way to break the vicious cycle of poverty”.

Earlier, H’Hen Nie had pledged to raise for some US$22,000 to set up a “Room to Read” library with quality reading materials in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong as well as to offer scholarships to 50 student from member countries of the “Room to Read” organization.
