Ngu Hanh Son receives national special relic certificate

PSNews - The Da Nang Municipal People's Committee on January 20 held a ceremony to receive the National Special Relic Certificate for the Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) landscape.

The Ngu Hanh Son landscape was first recognized as a national relic in 1980. Over the last 39 years, the people and authorities of Da Nang City and Ngu Hanh Son District have been preserving and upgrading the place. On December 24

th, 2018, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1820/QD-TTg recognizing the Ngu Hanh Son relic as national special relic.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy affirmed that Ngu Hanh Son is a art masterpiece that the nature has given to Da Nang.

The Ngu Hanh Son relic is located in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District with a total area of nearly 2 km2. The relic consists of 6 limestone mountains, which were named by King Minh Mang (under the Nguyen Dynasty) as Kim Son, Moc Son, Thuy Son, Tho Son, Duong Hoa Son and Am Hoa Son according to the yin-yang and five element theories.

Each mountain has its own story and geological structure as well as cultural, historical and feng shui values.

Nowadays, the Ngu Hanh Son is considered not only a cultural heritage, but also a great resource for the local economy. According to the statistics of the Management Board of the Ngu Hanh Son relic site, in 2018, the Ngu Hanh Son welcomed more than 1,990,000 visitors, and brought a benefit of nearly 84 billion VND (increased 34% compared to 2017) to the locality.

Since being classified as a national relic in 1980, the Da Nang Municipal People's Committee, the Da Nang Cultural and Sports Department together with the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District have made great efforts in preserving and promoting the value of this natural relic.
