Poetry collection - candidate for Nobel Prize in Literature introduced in Hanoi

A social exchange to introduce the Vietnamese version of the poetry collection “Ten Thousand Lives” by Korean poet Ko-un took place at the headquarters of the Vietnam Writers’ Association on December 5. The author of the poetry collection, Korean poet Ko-un also attended the event.

The Vietnamese version of the poetry collection “Ten Thousand Lives” with 108 poems has been translated into Vietnamese by translator Le Dang Hoan.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Tran Dang Khoa, Dang Huy Giang and translator Le Ba Thu all showed their respect to Korean poet Ko-un and lauded his talent and creativity.

For his part, poet Ko-un said that he was very happy because his poetry collection had attracted attention from Vietnamese readers.

According to critics, Ko-un’s poetry world is like a forest, so the more we read, the more we comprehend and experience.

Ko-un was born in 1933 in Gunsan city, Jeohbuk, Korea. He led a difficult life before becoming one of the most famous Korean poets. Ko-un has also been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature for many times.

Earlier, the Vietnam Writers’ Association Publishing House had published two volumes of Ko-un’s poems.
