According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi’s Municipal Tourism Department Tran Trung Hieu, the F1 race will have a very huge impact on Vietnam and Hanoi's tourism. The event will be a key event in the country in 2020 in terms of culture, sports and tourism.

Hieu added that Hanoi will take all measures to ensure safety for both audiences and racers participating in the event and the race will not be postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak in China.

Earlier, the Chinese authorities decided to postpone the Chinese GP, which was also scheduled for April due to COVID-19.

The first ever Vietnam Grand Prix will be held on 5th April in capital city Hanoi at a temporary street circuit, featuring a combination of public roads and a purpose-built section. The track is designed by German group Tilke and will be set up on the main urban streets around My Dinh Stadium.
