Vietnamese Tet Festival to open in HCMC

PSNews - The Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Department of Tourism on January 13 held a press conference to inform about the Vietnamese Tet Festival 2021. 

As announced, Tet Festival (Lunar New Year)  2021 will take place at Le Van Tam Park, District 1, from January 21 to 24 with the aim of honouring Vietnamese cultural and culinary values, and is expected to welcome nearly 70,000 visitors.

According to Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, the Ho Chi Minh City always wants to organise many events and activities on the occasion of the traditional Tet. Therefore, the Tet Festival will be a very meaningful event for meeting the entertainment and entertainment needs of the city people as well as attracting visitors to the city during the Tet holiday. 

Thereby, it contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation and promoting the lively, open and friendly image of Ho Chi Minh City.

During this second iteration of the Tet Festival 2021, a series of festive activities will be organized. Children will also be able to play folk games, including tug-of-war and a ring tossing game. Some local specialties for Tet from across the country’s three regions will be showcased throughout 150 booths at a traditional market.  

In particular, there will be a special corner set up to display fruit trays and offerings to ancestors of the three regions from across the country to mark the Tet Festival.

Additionally, representatives of consulate generals, trade offices, and international organisations based in Ho Chi Minh City will participate in wrapping the Chung cake – an indispensable cake during the Tet festival.

The first iteration of the festival, held last year, attracted over 50,000 participants. This year’s event is expected to draw between 80,000 to 90,000 arrivals.
