504 Chinese citizens illegally enter Vietnam since beginning of 2020

PSNews – In recent times, the Public Security Forces in collaboration with other functional forces have been preventing both foreigners and Vietnamese citizens from illegally entering Vietnam, in an effort to prevent COVID-19 from spreading in the country.

In responding to a question about the situation of illegal entry into Vietnam in recent times, Major General To An Xo, Head of the Ministry of Public Security's Office unveiled that people entering Vietnam illegally in recent times included Chinese citizens and Vietnamese citizens returning their home from neighboring countries. 

Since the beginning of 2020, 504 Chinese nationals have entered Vietnam illegally. They were founded by local forces while residing in 27 Vietnamese provinces and cities.

In June, the local police and border guard force discovered 21 cases of illegal entry, arrested 177 Chinese citizens, prosecuted 5 cases with 19 Vietnamese and Chinese on charges of illegal entry into the country.

He also said that a majority of the Vietnamese citizens caught illegally crossing the Vietnam-China border used to work illegally in China, and when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, they become unemployed and returned home. Others visited their relatives in China.
