Hanoi to build US$ 417 million road

PSNews – The People’s Committee of Hanoi held a ceremony to start a project to build an elevated road above Ring Road 2’s section between Vinh Tuy Bridge and Nga Tu So Roundabout on April 22.    

The whole project costs VND 9.5 trillion or US$ 417, of which nearly VND 4.2 trillion (USD 184.40 million) will be spent on ground clearance.

After the expansion, Ring Road 2 will have 8 lanes, including 6 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles.

The Vinh Tuy-Nga Tu So elevated route will run through Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan and Dong Da districts.

The Hanoi authorities will pay for ground clearance and resettlement of the involved people while real estate developer VinGroup will be responsible for the construction in the form of Public-Private Partnership and Build-Transfer.

The Hanoi Municipal People's Committee already provided VinGroup with an interest-free advance payment of VND 1 trillion (USD 44.50m) to widen the road from Vinh Tuy Bridge to Mai Dong Bridge, and the ground clearance in the area has basically completed.

This project is very importance to Hanoi’s transportation. When it is completed, the newly built viaduct system, along with the road below, will help facilitate the traffic from the West to the South and East of the city, contributing to completing the traffic network of Ring Road 2, as well as promoting economic development in the region and addressing traffic jams that have been seen increasing rapidly in the current years.
