PSNews - Vietnamese potential young leaders will attend a training course on “Agri-Business/ Agri-Ecotourism” in Japan between August 23 and September 9, 2018.

Exchange with the International Association of Shonai Town, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan

The course is implemented under the Knowledge Co-creation Program (KCCP) for Young Leaders of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a Technical Cooperation Program of Japan’s ODA, with the purpose of promoting human resource development in various fields in developing countries.

Under the program, groups of youths in their twenties and thirties, most of them are middle and high ranking members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, are invited to Japan for 18 to 23 days to enhance their majors by experiencing and learning Japan’s technologies and skills, thus being encouraged to resolve problems on their own.

Among many Japan’s ODA programs JICA has been implementing in Vietnam, this program is exclusively designed targeting the young people who are working outside the government system. Those are the potential human resources working in various sectors throughout the country. Since the commencement of the program in 1995, over 2,100 Vietnamese young leaders have participated in the program. After returning to Vietnam, a considerable number of those have been actively and effectively disseminating and promoting knowledge and know-hows obtained through the program in Japan, playing important roles in the Party and socio-political organizations.

“The KCCP for Young Leaders that JICA in cooperation with the National Committee of Vietnam Youth has been implementing since 1995 is one of the highly appreciated programs as it has successfully combined cultural exchange and training to improve Vietnamese Youth’s knowledge and skills in governance, agriculture, ecotourism, education, media, environment, economics, human resource development, vocational training and other important sectors. Besides professional knowledge and skills, the participants to the program also have chance to experience Japanese culture and professional working style. Through the program, the Vietnamese participants can also have opportunity to introduce Vietnamese cultural specialties to Japanese people” – said Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Alternative Member of the Vietnamese Communist Party’s Central Committee, First Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Chairman of National Committee of Vietnam Youth.

The program was an enhancement of the initially Youth Invitation Program, which began in 1984 for six ASEAN countries, and has since expanded to cover approximately 120 countries. For more than 20 years, the program has served as a significant venue for technical and cultural exchange and for the promotion of friendship and mutual trust between Japan and partner countries.

A Pre-departure Program of JICA KCCP Agri-Business/ Agri - Eco – Tourism course was organized at the office of the Centre for Youth Development & International Cooperation (CYDECO) in Hanoi on August 21st and 22nd, 2018.
