More opportunities created for Vietnamese students to study in Russia

PSNews - The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi is organizing a series of events to introduce opportunities for education in Russia’s leading educational institutions to Vietnamese students.

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi from September 17 to 21 hosts a series of events within the framework of the project "Universities of Russia" to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in human resources development.

More opportunities created for Vietnamese students to study in Russia.

"Universities of Russia" was launched in 2014 by the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Vietnam in collaboration with the country’s Ministry of Education and Training with the aim of giving information about Russian higher education, and bringing opportunities to Vietnamese students to study in Russia under the Russian governmental scholarship program or via cooperation channels between Vietnamese and Russian educational institutions.

After 5 years, the project is on its 10th stage. Tthe Russian Center of Science and Culture is cooperating with the Russia.study portal to establish an electronic enrollment channel for all Vietnamese students who would like to study at Russian universities.

Natalia Safinskaya, Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, said, during the stage the two sides will discuss a joint action plan in the coming time to promote Russian education in the country and strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ universities, including holding seminars and conferences, Olympiads and student exchange programs.

"Over the past 5 years, the project has proved to be effective, as well as reflected good collaboration between the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi and the Russian universities,” said Safinskaya. She also added that many of the Russian educational and training institutions have become permanent members of the project and very interested in enrolling Vietnamese students.

According to the head of the Russian Center of Science and Culture, this year, 7 Russian higher educational institutions, including Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), National Research University of Electronic Technology, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Tula State University (TLU) and Ural Federal University (UFU), are offering opportunity to Vietnamese students.

Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in the sphere of education and training has a more than 70-year history. Over the past time, tens of thousands of Vietnamese students have studied at the higher educational institutions of the former Soviet Union and currently Russia.

According to official statistics, about 5,000 students and post-graduate students from Vietnam are studying in Russia’s higher educational institutions. Of these, a majority are scholarship recipients of the Russian Government. In 2018, the Russian Government has granted 958 scholarships to Vietnamese students.
