Sa Na village devastated after flooding

It will take some time for the people in Sa Na village, Na Meo commune, Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa, to stabilize their life after floods swept the village.

Under the influence of Storm No.3, various areas in Thanh Hoa’s mountainous districts of Muong Lat, Quan Son, Quan Hoa and Ba Thuoc witnessed torrential rains, which triggered floods and landslides. Particularly, the floods swept away 10 people and caused great damages of property in Sa Na village, Na Meo commune.

As of 4 p.m of August 6, 2 bodies were found but 8 people were still missing. The search and rescue activities faced various difficulties as the local rivers and streams still ran high and fast.

Ha Van Van (29) lost his 6 family members, including his parents, sister, wife and two children. He still wandered for days along the stream in the hope of finding one of his family alive.Senior Colonel Tran Thanh Phong, Vice Director of the Public Security Information and Communications Department, encouraged Van to overcome his difficult time, presented him gifts donated by the Department, the Public Security Newspaper and other donors.

Van in his great pain cannot hold his tears while his relatives and villagers helped bury his son. The boy's body was found in the stream several kilometers away from his house.

Nguyen Van Yet (32) and his children have travelled here and there for a few days looking for his wife missing in flood.The charitable delegation of the Department and Public Security Newspaper comfort and offered gifts to Yet and his children.

21 out of the 74 houses in the village were collapsed or swept away, 10 others were seriously damaged. Many local roads were buried under soil and rock, while a large area of crops was destroyed and many assets of local people were swept away.

Many vehicles of local people were taken away by the water, and are now covered with mud downstream.

After the fierce flood, leaders of Thanh Hoa visited and encouraged families suffering large losses, and directed the authority of Quan Son district to establish a working group in Na San village to direct rescue and search activities as well as to address the consequences and receive donations.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police department and Quan Son Police Station have deployed many officers and soldiers to the hard-hit communes to participate in rescue and search and disaster relief.

The Department of Information and Communications of Public Security and the Public Security Newspaper, call on businesses, organizations and generous individuals to support victims of the flooding in Thanh Hoa.

The charitable team of the Department and Public Security Newspaper present gifts and money to families suffering great losses caused by the flooding.
