PSNews – On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of National Resistance Day (December 19th 1946), the Public Security Newspaper would like to introduce readers the village, where President Ho Chi Minh lived, worked and wrote “The Call for National Resistance”.

Van Phuc is an ancient village along the Nhue river in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, where President Ho Chi Minh worked on “ The Call for National Resistance”, mobilizing the entire nation for the resistance war against France.

The draft consisting of only two paragraphs that was hand-written by President Ho Chi Minh bears not only great historical meaning, but also high values in Vietnamese literature. ‘The Call for National Resistance” asserts the Vietnamese patriotism and willpower. This created a starting point for all of our following victories.

The below images help people recall the historical event:

A red bridge leading to President Ho Chi Minh’s working place for 16 days. It has been upgraded to ensure safety for visitors.

The path leading to a house, where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked. The house was built in 1935 and finished in 1942 after 7 years of construction.

This house used to belong to Mr. Nguyen Van Duong. But his family donated it to Vietnamese Government for historical site  in 1973.

The room located in the second floor of the house is the place in which our Uncle Ho lived and worked for 16 days. Its area is only 12.2 square meters.

During those days, President Ho Chi Minh chaired many important meetings of the Party and the Government, discussed plans and issued directive on the national resistance war.

The chair next to Uncle Ho’s desk used to be seated by Mr. Vu Ky – Secretary of Uncle Ho.

The Cuu Quoc (National Salvation) Newspaper and the Su That (Trust) Newspaper were delivered to Uncle Ho everyday.

Although living and working in secret, President Ho Chi Minh did exercise indoor with the two dumbbells daily. This reminds us of “ The Uncle Ho’s Call for doing exercise in 1945”.

Six cadres lived with President Ho Chi Minh to protect Him and assist Him with daily-life and office work.

Uncle Ho said:

“We would rather sacrifice everything than lose our nation and live in slavery”.

At the conference before issuing “ The Call for National Resistance” in this house, President Ho Chi Minh and participating officials modified some words in the historical document. “ The Call for National Resistance” was officially approved on December 19th, 1946 by President Ho Chi Minh; General Secretary Truong Chinh; General Vo Nguyen Giap – member of the Party Central Committee in charge of Defence and Mr. Le Duc Tho, member of the Standing Board of the Party Central Committee”.

President Ho Chi Minh’s autograph of the Call for National Resistance was approved at Van Phuc village.

Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Van Tran and Vu Ky were President Ho Chi Minh’s close comrades and assistants.
