Vietnam offers COVID-19 vaccination for UN peacekeepers

PSNews - The HCM City-based Military Hospital 175 on March 16 organized COVID-19 vaccination for priority groups. This effort aimed to respond to the urgent epidemic prevention, reducing the number of COVID-19 cases in the military.

As reported, the hospital vaccinated 70 staff members of the second-grade Field Hospital No. 3 that is leaving on a peacekeeping mission in late March to South Sudan. According to Major General Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Military Hospital 175, the vaccinations represent their responsibility to the community and South Sudan.

Earlier, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy has emphasised the need to offer COVID-19 vaccine to peacekeepers, particularly those at high risk, such as medical workers at field hospitals and forces operating in areas severely hit by the pandemic.

In addition, at least 2,100 staff members of Military Hospital 175 will be given priority for a COVID-19 vaccination after the field hospital’s members, including those on duty at the DK1 rig house, border guards in Tay Ninh province, staff at the Wards of Medical Examination, Emergency Recovery, Infectious Diseases, Laboratory and others. 

Military Hospital 175 will coordinate with the High Command of Border Guard to organize COVID-19 vaccination for border guards of Tay Ninh province.
