Vietnamese physicians bring light to over 200 Lao eye patients

All the surgeries were performed on the Phaco technique at the Military Hospital 103 and in the Laos Eye Center, in Laos.

The Lao patients also received free medications, free lodging and travel costs as well as free consultation services. The HCMC Eye Hospital also donated sufficient funds and medical supplies for the two Lao medical institutions to conduct 69 surgeries on Lao patients, who live in remote areas and could not come in time for this free surgery dirve.
The Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital’s doctors also trained and granted certificates to 6 Lao physicians on the Phaco technique.

The free surgery drive for Lao patient is part of the cooperation program signed between the HCMC Eye Hospital and the Lao Central Eye Hospital and the Vientiane Health Department in conducting Phaco technique-based surgeries to Lao patients and in training the Phaco technique for Lao physicians.
The success of the program has well contributed to further strengthening solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
