Four APEC member countries’ leaders to visit Vietnam during APEC 2017’s High-level Week

Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chairman of the APEC 2017 National Committee Bui Thanh Son confirmed the information at a news briefing on November 2 in Hanoi.

According to Mr. Son, the visit of Chinese Communist Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping will be his first State-level foreign trip after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. While President Trump's State visit to Vietnam will also take place in the early days of his presidential term.

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will also pay a State visit and official to Vietnam, respectively.

In addition, Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son also revealed that, leaders of many APEC’s economies and the world's leading financial and economic cooperation organizations have proposed to pay courtesy calls on Vietnam’s senior officials.

New milestone in Vietnam - China relations

Answering reporter's question regarding the first State visit of Chinese Communist Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping after the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son stated: “The visit of President Xi Jinping to Vietnam will become a new milestone in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China. Therefore, the bilateral friendship and cooperation will be further boosted and deepened in the coming time".

According to Deputy Minister Son, Chinese President Xi Jinping will also deliver a keynote speech at the APEC Business Summit, expressing the strong determination of China's top leaders to promote the link between APEC leaders and businesses.

Deputy Minister Son also emphasized that Vietnam welcomed the high-level leaders and the Chinese President's support for Vietnam to successfully organize APEC 2017’s events. Over the past years, Vietnam has received big support from China.
