MPS and MARD sign cooperation deal

• Public security education sector asked to contribute to developing human resources

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a meeting on December 29 to review 5 years of the implementation of their cooperation agreement and sign a new cooperation deal.

General To Lam, member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development co-chaired the event. The meeting saw other leaders of the two ministries.

Reports at the event stated that on the basis of Intersectional Circular No. 04/2015/TTLT dated June 16, 2015, on the bilateral cooperation, the MPS and the MARD’s leaders directed their subordinate units, agencies to coordinate effectively in many working fields.

The two ministries collaborated in making and issuing policies and legal documents to protect forests, environment and agricultural production, and advising the Government and the National Assembly to supplement the management and ban on harmful substances used in livestock and agricultural production to the Penal Code.

Further, the two ministries closely coordinated in the implementation of the national target program on building the new rural model. So far, about 60% of the communes nationwide have met all the 19 criteria for the new rural model in terms of security and order.

In recent years, the MPS has also directed its affiliated units to draw up plans in response to climate change, floods and storms, and deploy forces for search and rescue and disaster relief missions when disasters happen.

In addition, the two sides regularly coordinate in conducting security and safety inspections of irrigation works, as well as in supporting fishing boats to find safe shelters during storms.

Specially, the two sides gained great achievements in their cooperation in protecting internal security, economic security and State secrets as well as in handling violations of the laws related to the agricultural sector.

At the event, Minister of Public Security To Lam awarded the Medal of "National Security Protection" to the leaders of the MARD and leaders of some of its affiliated units.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong awarded the medal "For the cause of Agriculture and Rural Development" to leaders of the MPS and of some of its subunits.

The leaders of the two ministries also signed a coordination deal for the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam and Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong praised the achievements of the two sides in coordination and cooperation over the past time.

 They emphasized that, the fruitful results of coordination between the MPS and MARD contributed positively to the development of the two sectors, maintaining political stability, social order and safety and building a comprehensive modern and sustainable agriculture of the country.
