Vietnam resolutely opposes Taiwan deploying a drill on November 28 in Ba Binh area belonging to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago, said Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh.

He made the statement on November 29 in reply to a reporter’s query on Vietnam’s reaction to the Taiwanese side organising a drill at sea in the Ba Binh area in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

“Vietnam has full historical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa archipelagoes,” Binh said.

Taiwan’s organisation of the drill in Ba Binh area in Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago is a serious violation of Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, navigation safety, sparking tensions, and complicating the situation in the East Sea, the spokesperson added.

“Vietnam resolutely protests and demands Taiwan not to repeat similar activities,” Binh concluded.
